Tsukuba Industrial Liaison and Cooperative Research Center (ILC) was established in April 2002 to strengthen relationships among university, industry and governmental institutes. The goal of ILC is to contribute to society through promoting cooperative research, facilitating technological incubation and transferring excellent research findings of the University of Tsukuba to the general public, especially to private enterprises.

Our building, a three-story structure with a floor space of 3,000 square meters, was completed in March 2004. Since then, we have initiated Research Projects for Promoting University-Industry Cooperation, under which there are three categories of projects: Projects for Promoting Cooperative Research, Projects for Business Start-ups and Projects for Supporting University Spin-offs. From FY2010, we have started another three categories of projects: Projects for Utilizing Intellectual Property, Projects for Supporting Cooperative Research Organization, and Projects for Supporting Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Education

It is also our important mission to collect information relevant to various social needs and make research at the University of Tsukuba more flexible and substantial for creation of new technologies and industries .

To address these tasks, as well as to promote technology transfers, our various liaison services, such as Sponsored Research Affairs, Regional Partnership Promotion Affairs and Legal Affairs, have been unified for eone-stop servicef. We aim to create a comprehensive center which is easy to use.

Moreover, taking advantage of our geographical advantage, namely eTsukubaScienceCityf, we are endeavoring for the ongoing improvement of ILC in order to perform comprehensive activities as an organization well-connected to society by developing our cooperative activities with other research institutes, the private sector and other entities.
